The workout studio culture is a real thing in Toronto with many options to get a culty sweat. Here’s the places we’ve tried and our impression of the vibe. Keep checking back for our adventures trying new places as we check off the most popular spots to get your butt kicked:
ORANGE THEORY – structured in circuits with half the class doing cardio or rowing and the second half doing whatever strength movements that trainer feels like that day. Great to stay consistently active but if you have certain body goals to build muscle – this is not for you. This class is a lot of good weight loss cardio but personally we would never pay to run on the treadmill for half a class.
F45 – employs trainers to coach you through pre recorded strength training circuits/sessions. F45 Workout combine elements of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), circuit training, and functional training during a 45 minute sweat that promises to 400-600 calories per session. Another great place to get a great workout and get into shape but again if you have certain body goals, a more focused plan may be better for you.
SWEAT & TONIC – Incoming hot take! With an abundance of types of classes to choose from, there’s never an excuse to miss a class here. Unless you don’t live in the core – then it is not fun to drive here and find parking. When you walk in you’re signed into the class by the front desk staff that barely crack a smile and it is max culty. Everyone looks unreasonably good to go for a workout wearing their overly priced Alo & 437 sets. The classes are over booked and it feels like a social status hour. The hot pilates was nice but since there were too many people in the class you had to navigate through the dark space without kicking the person behind you. We did however love the spin classes – shout out to my girl Raechel. Loved her energy, her music and her vibe!
FIT FACTORY – We suggest sticking with this and eventually you will make it through a class without almost throwing up! The trainers here are awesome and push you harder even when your mind is telling you no. Trust the process and stick with this!
